Time of Madness (ToM) recognizes that much more than the love of fantasy writing and role playing brings people together as a true community.  While our shared passion for these things give us a common ground, it's our hope that the friendships forged on this website go far beyond just the casual interactions that you'd experience at other internet role playing sites.

ToM Meet-Ups
Our administrators look forward to organizing meet-ups at conventions and specially arranging smaller events hosted by Staff and members. These gatherings offer us a chance to meet each other face to face and make lasting memories to take back home with us.

The Reputation System
Recognition is given where it's due.  Members are allowed to not only rate each other's threads to show their appreciation for it's over all content but they can award members reputation and remove it as well.  The system works like this:

• Every member who joins starts out with 10pts of reputation (and the title "member is on a distinguished road")
• For every 7 days members are active, they gain the right to give or take one reputation point from someone else on the site. These points are separate from the member's own reputation and are only used to affect the reputations of others. This allows the average member to typically give 4-5 reputation points over the course of one month starting from the time they have written 100 posts on the site.
• From that point on, members gain 1 additional reputation point to use every time they reach 100 posts or 1000 reputation points.
• We try to prevent members from potentially abusing their ability to give praise and reprimand other members on the site. No member may take reputation from another member twice without first gaining 2 reputation points of their own from other members between the first and second time they remark on a single member. (The number of reputation points to be gained between affecting another member multiple times will grow as our membership increases.)
• Staff members are granted a certain level of reputation for their dedication to the site (see below). There is no penalty for leaving a Staff position. So former Staffers retain their reputation, which can be brought down only by other members.

Reputation Rankings Increases As Follows:

• -100 = Member is infamous around these parts
• -50 = Member can only hope to improve
• -10 = Member has a little shameless behavior in the past
• 0 = Member is an unknown quantity at this point
• 10 = Member is on a distinguished road (ALL MEMBERS START HERE)
• 50 = Member will become famous soon enough
• 150 = Member has a spectacular aura about
• 250 = Member is a jewel in the rough
• 350 = Member is just really nice (MODERATORS ARE PROMOTED HERE)
• 450 = Member is a glorious beacon of light (ORG LEADERS ARE PROMOTED HERE)
• 550 = Member is a name known to all (ADMINS ARE PROMOTED HERE)
• 650 = Member is a splendid one to behold
• 1000 = Member has much to be proud of (FOUNDERS STARTED HERE)
• 1500 = Member has a brilliant future
• 2000 = Member has a reputation beyond repute
